Clockwork Angel Book Review

Cassandra Clare is known by her Mortal Instruments Series, Cassie’s new series it’s a prequel! You don’t need to read the Mortal Instruments for starting with the exciting Infernal Devices but you’ll be pleased if you’re already into the MI. This is the first book I’ve read about this author and what a journey!
At the beginning of the story I thought that this was just the kind of book that everyone is hyped about because of the fame of her other series. But through all the reading I discovered how talented Clare is!

The story starts with Tessa Gray leaving New York to find her brother in England. Instead of finding her brother and being happily ever after she’s kidnapped by two witches, because Tessa is not the average girl, she’s a kind of shape shifter but her powers are way more powerful than just a simple shape shifter, what she can do it’s just incredible. The thing is that she didn’t know about powers or magical creatures so all this things are strange and scary for her.

This book is about Tessa discovering who she really is and how someone wants to use her powers for his benefice. She’ll meet the Shadow hunters and she’ll focus in finding her brother.

The book has a lot of action but a really slow beginning. I needed 200 pages before I felt like something interesting was going on.

Pros:
-          The setting: Victorian age
-          Action
-          Writing style
-          How it ended: Makes you want to continue with the series
-          Author’s imagination
-          Surprising turns in the plot
-          Genre: for me historical fiction is a win- win!

Cons:
-         Flat Characters
-          The SLOW beginning
-          Too many details pointed out for no reason

I felt that he last 150 pages saved this book, it was all about action and I felt that towards the end Tessa was showing more personality.

Sincerely I expected more from this book because of all the things I’ve heard about Clare’s series but definitely I’m going to give a chance to the next book in this series Clockwork Prince.

This read what a 4 stars read taking in consideration the Pros a listed + the amazing cover in this book and the excitement I felt when I was reading the last half of the book.

For me this was the most powerful quote in this book….

"One must always be careful of books," said Tessa, "and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us."
